What is the C.A.R.E.S. Act?

The includes a Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) that provides more than $14 billion in emergency funding to higher education. Of those funds, more than $6 billion must go directly to students in the form of emergency financial aid grants (HEERF-student share) for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the COVID-19 crisis. Based on a Federal formula, 澳门心水论坛 Baptist University will receive a set amount of the $6 billion to be offered to students.

Eligibility:

You may be eligible to receive HEERF funding if you:

  1. Are eligible to complete the , and
  2. Were enrolled in at least one face to face course as of March 13, 2020, and
  3. Have at least one expense related to or resulting from disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19. Examples might include but are not limited to:
    • Housing (rent/utilities)
    • Food
    • Medical expenses/healthcare
    • Childcare
    • Technology (internet, computer, other tech related items)
    • Other (things that don't fall into one of the categories above)

You will not be eligible to receive HEERF funding if you:

  1. Are an international student or non-U.S. citizen, or
  2. Are enrolled in dual credit course (high school and college), or
  3. Were not enrolled in at least one face to face course as of March 13, 2020

How do I apply:

FAQ:

How much will I be eligible for?

In order to be equitable, grants will be limited to $520 per student and offered until funding is fully expended.

How will I receive the funds?

HEERF funds will be paid directly to you and will not be applied to any institutional charges you may owe to 澳门心水论坛 Baptist University.

The Business Office will release these funds every Friday either through direct deposit or paper check (by mail). If you have not already done so, we highly encourage you to sign up for direct deposit by contacting the Business Office at businessoffice@wbu.edu or 806-291-3445.

Do these funds have to be paid back?

No, HEERF is considered a grant and does not have to be repaid.

Will this affect any current or future financial aid eligibility?

No, HEERF is specifically intended to help with expenses that have unexpectedly occurred related to or resulting from disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus. It will not have any impact on current financial aid or future financial aid.
