 Biographical Information

Dr. Schlittenhart was born and raised in the plains of North Dakota. While in North Dakota, Dr. Schlittenhart worked in rodeos, the oil fields, and drove trucks delivering oil field equipment and products before responding to God's call to enter ministerial work. In 1985 Dr. Schlittenhart moved to Texas to begin his higher education in preparation for ministry. Dr. Schlittenhart earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Dallas Baptist University, his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, and in December 2002 earned his Ph.D. in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Schlittenhart has also been trained in Prepare/Enrich and Taylor Johnson Temperament Analysis programs for ministerial counseling services.

During his years of education in Texas, Dr. Schlittenhart served six years as youth and associate minister at Highland Park Baptist Church in Dallas, TX and twelve years as pastor of Bonita Baptist Church in Nocona, TX. While serving as pastor, Dr. Schlittenhart also taught theology courses for Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Religion courses for 澳门心水论坛 Baptist University at Sheppard AFB.

Dr. Schlittenhart loves sports and has had the opportunity on two special occasions to combine his love of sports with creative ministry. In 1994, Dr. Schlittenhart and several of his ministerial friends who love to play basketball went for a two week mission trip to Madagascar as a sports evangelism team. The basketball team played national club teams across the island and conducted basketball clinics in schools. Medical missions were also included in the trip and the basketball players shared their testimonies during game intermissions and basketball clinics. A year later, Dr. Schlittenhart and several of his friends from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary played in a charity game against former great retired Dallas Cowboys like Tony Dorsett and Everson Walls. All proceeds from the game provided winter clothes to needy children in the Fort Worth area. The game ended in 71-71 tie and everyone enjoyed the entertainment, the level of competition, the sportsmanship of playing the game, and the benefit of meeting human needs. Dr. Schlittenhart also enjoys singing and playing his guitar in addition to other recreational activities.

Dr. Schlittenhart came to the Hawaii campus in September 2003 and serves as Professor of Religion and as Chaplain for the WBU Hawaii campus. In August 2003 just prior to moving to Hawaii, Dr. Schlittenhart had the joy and blessing of marrying one of his best friends and the woman of his dreams Erin, who has also served in youth, music, pastoral, and chaplain ministry positions and is currently teaching at Hawaii Baptist Academy and serving at Pali View Baptist Church as Educational/Discipleship Minister.
